IconICan Studio is an advanced icon and mouse cursor creator/editor. Overall, it’s a good program that has a lot of tools, features, graphical elements, image effects, filters and so on. However, it also has some minor bugs and they can become very frustrating.
The drawing tools can be accessed via the menu or by enabling the toolbox (the same is true for most features). The panels are floating, which is an advantage, because they can be positioned anywhere.
If you want to create an icon by using parts of an existing image, an importing wizard guides you through all the steps. Furthermore, if you want to use an element displayed somewhere on your screen, there is a capturing tool which is very easy to use.
Although cursor files can be created with this utility, it seems that there is no tool available for creating a hotspot (a pixel that is used when you click; in case of an arrow-shaped cursor, this would be the tip of that arrow).
The application’s bugs themselves are nothing major but they can have major consequences. For example there is a bug when you use a graphical element from a panel, a part of that panel appears in your drawing canvas, in the background, in a repeating pattern (screenshot attached). Although that is just a ghost image (it’s just displayed in the canvas, but not active; it does not appear in the saved image) it’s an unwanted element that can make it hard to focus on your drawing.
